Masterclasses

What are masterclasses?

The ISSP masterclasses are an annual series of masterclasses where previous topics have ranged from astronomy, through the psychology of madness to robotics, from the study of literary dystopias to the mathematics of Angry Birds!

Each masterclass has two or three, three-hour sessions, held over a series of Saturdays in one of the participating schools or other venue.  Since the first classes in 2007, students from all our schools have enthusiastically endorsed their success!

Who leads the masterclasses?

Masterclasses are taught by outstanding teachers from York schools who have been carefully selected against set criteria.  The emphasis is on teachers teaching to their passions.  Masterclasses have also been supported by local businesses and heritage organisations, by noted academics and by the outstanding resources of the University of York.
