Why Poverty? Workshops.

New opportunity for Years 9 to 13 to get involved in this exciting project.  Application forms are now available at your child’s school.

Confucius said: “In a country well-governed poverty is something to be ashamed of.”

Poverty is on your doorstep, in your country, and around the world. Poverty provokes many different responses from people; we can view poverty from numerous perspectives.

What’s your view? Could you get your message across using film? Do you want people worldwide to hear your views? Are you prepared to hear other’s views on poverty?

Working in a team, you will collaborate with students from the University of York and colleagues in Russia – your challenge is to create a short film to raise awareness of the causes of poverty. We need writers, creative thinkers, philosophers, journalists, film editors and historians to meet this challenge.

Your film will be uploaded, viewed online, and presented at a Short Film Festival in York during June.

Dates:  Tuesday 7 May, Wednesday 15 May 4.30 to 7pm & Saturday 18 May 10am to 3pm

Location:  Ron Cooke Hub, University of York and Short Film Festival York in June 2013
